My wife recently took her 75 cdt to an auto electrical and ecu specialist for diagnosis and repair. He reckoned that his machine could re program the ecu to cdti 131bhp spec.A couple of hours passed and the garage rang my wife to say that the upgrade was not possible as a code was required to perform this and the company who now deals with this since rovers demise want £350 for the code.Does this sound right?

Does anyone have any experience of these? www.dieseltuning.uk.com

That's Ron's site isn't it?

ROVER-DOSE, just do a search for Rover_Ron on this forum and you'll get tons of good references and a mass of contributions made by Ron.

With regards to the remap on the cdt. I have remapped my own car and it did not ask me for any code. Also fitted the Tu3b and the change is superb.
Don't know who they are asking for the remap but £350 is a lot. Not selling my services but it can be done for less than that.
Try the Tu3b you will not be disappointed.

When you say this do you mean that you've had it remapped to a bespoke config., or that you've had MGR's own 'X-Power' upgrade applied? The latter of course asks for a confirmation code (I guess to stop it being applied without the 'necessary' s/w licence).

Yes I mean to a bespoke config.

My mate used to work in MG/rover testing facility near Coventry (it was actually a different company, omegatron or something :p ), and when I told him I had a ZT he offered to find out the code - you enter the VIN number (sp?) and it kicks out a code for the machine to use to reprogram. At least that's sort of what he said on MSN when I spoke to him.

Faulty turbo?

Does anybody know of a way to check that the turbo on our 01 cdt is working.I cannot hear any "whistle" regardless of road/engine speed

You should be able to feel it starting to pull just below 2000rpm. I cant hear the turbo working on mine but i sure can feel it.

remapping

Ok guys, forgive my ignorance but if I fit a tu3,will this negate the need for a remap at all?or will I still have something to gain by remapping and fitting a tu3

You could gain a few extra gee gees with a remap and tu3b, the tu3b on its own will give you around 145-150bhp, with tu3b remap and a few other tweaks like K & N air filter, air intake mod version 2 which is free DIY info on the site (£350 minimum spend) you might see just over 160. De-cat and stainless exhaust £275 ish 165-170bhp
