Hi all! Had a look yesterday at the diagnostic socket under the steering wheel and ...big surprise. Out of 16 pins, there are wires attached to only 3 of them. Rest of them are empty holes really. Can anyone confirm, is this normal or not? Car is a late model, I believe with 1.9 MEMS ECU. I'm thinking of buying a diagnostic tool but don't know if it will work in this case. I hope somebody replies to this. Thanks a lot!

If it has Mems 1.9 then a PScan might work with it, early K series Metros had a 3 pin socket, a sort of round plug. Have a look for a suitable cable.

Many thanks for your reply! Mine has the 16 hole OBD style socket, though apparently has nothing to do with real OBD. As I mentioned only 3 of the holes have pins in them. I was thinking of getting the T300 diagnostic tool as I read a lot about it on this forum. Hope it works…
