I have a sports cat on the turbo but if i didnt i would decat also
+1 to K series power loss

 

and swapping your cat for a decat would be stupid. cat is worth more and youll need a cat to have any chance of passing MOT

 

On my SDI it made a big difference! Went through the rev range much better as it used to be sluggish getting past 2500...

But yeah like previously said it has been proven to decrease performance on the K series, But adds noise

 

thats on an l series diesel though.....with a turbo

 

with my old mgf and daytona + decat it sounded awesome and from cold made some awesome bangs

 

As aleady said many MANY times, n a K you WILL loose power.

I know it's an L series with a turbo ... But i did mention that on a k series it would decrease power

 

Generally:

On the K in the 200, 25, ZR etc, de-cat will lose power.

However, on the TF/F I believe with a re-map it can increase power due to the length of the exhaust (the Engines in the back remember!)

On the L series (diesel) and the T series (petrol turbo) it will gain power, usually quite an amount with a remap.

 

As from 1st Jan, a decatted car will fail MOTs.

Added to the fact it reduces performance, it'd be a pretty retarded thing to do...

Already a fail mate, didn't know about the law though.

 

It's a bit of a grey spot regards cats & the new MOT regs. If the car passes the basic emissions test then fine, it only becomes a fail if it has to have a full emissions test.

 

There is also a visual check, where a cat has to be present ragardless is i remember correctly...

So even if its passes its emitions, its still a fail.
