Damp trousers

I have fixed the main leak from the wiper/clutch cylinder underbonnnet panel. Carpet has been dry since. however with last few days fo torrential rain, I got in today and the rear cubby box (the thin up and downy one) was full fo moisture (never seen that before) and when i got to work my bottom was damp...but not through any abnormal sphincter controls.

How can water get onto the seat. There's no obvious leak points other than the door cheaters and the roof is in good condition with no holes.

As I commented recently - ninja rain ;)

We have all suffered from it at some stage. no obvious leak but annoyingly wet arse.

I might leave a vidcam in my car tomorrow. Its to be torrential rain/flood warnings, and severe gale force winds tomorrow afternoon here....should be a good test
1. Mail leak? Was it junk mail or bills?
2. Was your car parked downhill? I only ask because I got hit by ninja rain last week and got a soggy botty. Not happened since and no way of telling where the moisture came from. Like you I have control over my bodily excrescences!

One of those "Well, you will own and drive an MG!" moments.

Nope, parked on the flat in same space as always.

Its the condensation in the rear cubby box thats intriguing me. In 9 years of ownership, I have not seen that before (although Maggies box was extremely mouldy when I removed it the other week, so maybe it is moist in there compared to other places (although it may have been the spilled coffee in the drinks tray ).

Maybe a rear window leak at top, dripping onto t-bar and seat? No trace of leak onto t-bar but it may have dried up overngiht?
Got to hand it to you Broon - your persitence with the MG astounds me. One hassle after another and STILL you soldier on :)

I just don't like any other cars  Its an affliction...my own personal hell.

Anyway this one is on borrowed time as if problems continue like the last car, then I wont be as forgiving.......last chance saloon and all that
Maybe your hood needs re-proofing Broon
Possibly. I usually do it before the winter, but what with everything thats happened, I haven't got round to it yet

*goes off to order some renovo*

But the hood has a rubber layer inside so that shouldn't be it unless it's got holes in it....

There's no visible holes in it.
I like the Ninja rain theory - and I think its the most plausible. However, when I left my F outside for a month or so last year, I got condensation (I think!) inside the roof. I found this out when I got in to the car, slammed the door shut and got an ice cold shower. No nice!

So - maybe it is roof condensation! I have a friend who had an MX5 - and she had the same problem after leaving her car at the airport for a weekend. So its not just an "MG thing" D6 VYJ ;)

I also got "internal rain" in my fiesta last winter. It was condensing on the sunroof when I got on the car and when driving ..it would be raining inside!! Made me think I was driving the F

Could be those invisible holes then Iain......
you know the ones you can't see...
i can sympathize, i left my f out in the rain all thought the start of the week and got that damp trousers feeling. again no trace of any holes in the hood no other signs of water, just a damp seat and loads of condensation for the last 2 days.

i can only conclude good old Scottish ninja rain!
I feel your dampness Broony.... My drivers seat was soggy this morning after a week of not driving it. Towel on the seat soaked most of it and now the sun is doing the rest.
well, after a deluge on friday, I went into the car today and indeed the inside of the hood was wet, and I don't think it was condensation) on both sides. As said the hood is actually in good condition, visually so I can only assume its not waterproof. It was showing signs of damp and mould when I bought it, but assumed this was just due to damp from the floor leak. Will hopefully get it reproofed if the weather stays OK

So maybe it is just the actual roof that's leaking and its getting onto the seat after all?

I suppose its possible its never bene treated in 10 years. I actually had visible holes in Maggies hood but she never leaked a single drop of water in all the time I had her, even speakers/cheaters etc (it did when I first got her but she got new seals fitted for free as she was still under MG warranty and it was perfect from then on)
I had soaking wet dashboard, damp seats, wet carpet and a wet roof during this weekends downpour.

Maybe it was to do with driving through Blackpool Illuminations with the hood down :p
