just wondering is it easy to lift the cylinder liners back out once they have dropped below the required limt or is it better off scrapping the motor and starting again?

You can remove the liners and then skim the block, but it might be easier to find another engine

If the engine is in pieces, it is pretty straightforward to get the block skimmed. The determining factor as to whether a block is scrap or not is whether the liner platform has been crushed through hammering of the liners or not... But usually blocks can be recovered fairly cheaply.

I think that Dave Andrews can get the block skimmed for about 30 quid. Will be looking into this myself for my project K.
