Custom Paint Jobs (56k unfriendly)

Anybody got any examples outside the production range? or considered a change?

F and TF's and the bubbles are all great shaped vehicles to show off custom colours.

I use my favourite custom finish suppliers as an example of what I mean.

I must add I am and have been a painter 20+ years,I promised myself i'd give my poor old Honda powered nightfire cabby a tart up in the summer,so all labour will be free and cost of garage/oven use minimal if anything. All the monogram chat got me thinking on the subject again http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=280711.Only problem I have is I dont really want to go for full on spectraflair/illusion/silk etc because of the cost and worry its gonna get keyed!Plus the fact its nightfire and I dont really want to do underbonnet/boot etc, just door shuts,so I want to compliment any colour I choose.

Thinking of doing my cabby marble/red dye/gold alloys, which is quite a cheap option, but using a gold coarse sparkle effect undercoat instead of black as in this pic which looks too much like fake plastic walnut interior trim for my liking,I want brighter!

More a bit like these, more the bottom one, which are bright red over silver, but not marbled.

But there again I always liked the illusion red/gold,despite the cost and worry of adverse attention from keys.

I'm thinking along the lines of the end result being similar to this, maybe a bit darker red and no "ghost flames"

I don't think marbleizing an entire car would look good but some of the R8s were two tone from the factory, how about just marbleizing the bottom half along the same lines as the two tone ones?

But instead of a random pattern, why not do something decent and show off your skills:

"Only problem I have is I dont really want to go for full on spectraflair/illusion/silk etc because of the cost"
Just putting a highlight coat over the top of a plain basecoat as in your red car doesn't need to be all that expensive. £29 for 1/2 litre should be enough for a cabby.

I agree after thinking about it,i'm probably going to give it the old candy style red effect in waterbase with a sparkly base, bright red candy, will probably end up looking similar to what i'm looking for cheaply.

I'm not big on custom/airbrushed/vinyled and painted jobs, too OTT for my liking.
Two tone is a bit dated for me.
The highlight stuffs a good idea, but would only really be effective on wing tops, bonnet roll, bumper tops and curves maybe boot edge
