just about to oput ma car in the paper for sale and some dipstick pulls out on me at a junction! my car was on two wheels! has huge problems at teh front, needs new bumper wheel arch and wheel :( not a happy lady

does anyone no how this will affect the sale and price of ma car when i do get round to selling it?

edited: as you can tell from my typin this happened just over an hour ago!

Simply put if they don't ask if it's been crashed it doesn't need to be mentioned so long as the car is perfect working order once fixed (which i'm sure it will be), if they ask then tell them but It should have no barring on price or saleability.

Noooooooo! :(

Sorry to hear this (are you OK? Cars can be fixed, people? Well that's a different matter...)

You have my sympathy (wasn't so long ago i was in the same boat).

I assume, as they pulled out in front of you, it's a clear cut insurance job (thier fault). Hope it goes speedily for you.

yeah the guys fault clear cut, but what he says to his insurance is another matter, once someone says claim then the story starts to differ accordinly!

yeah im fine though, thanks for asking, only problems i can see is, it was a company car under commercial insurance, and teh only witness, who i nearly crashed into too, drove away by the time i got out of ma car! really thouhg you'd think people would stop for accidents wouldnt you??? even to see if someones hurt?

my main worry is that if he dosnt admit fault i have to pay excess (ÂŁ625!!!) until proved other wise! and im wanting to sell ma car, infact i was putting it in autotrader today!, so ill have to wait til its fixed, and im now stressing that cos im selling it privatly people wont pay as much :(

im gutted. got a headache thinking bout it!!!! it only happened at 1 this afternoon! can feel a whiplash claim coming on.........my head hurts!

want to get a motorbike! been wanting one for ages, used to ride bikes before cars. i lovemy car to bits, dont get me wrong if i could afford to have both i would! without a doubt, i cried when i saw ma bump in the car!

but im moving home and cant afford two, the mg is lovely, but has a nice price tag on it too, a bike is a quater of the price of the car! so really cant justify paying for it! (unfortunatly!) youd think my boss would give me a pay rise, he has an mg and understands how important they are in your life! but still wont pay for mine!

Sorry to hear about the crash. Hope you are OK. If your neck hurts get to Hospital. Whiplash can take a few hours to be noticable. Don't want any long term injuries - especially if you will be biking it. Best wishes

Sorry to hear... I had someone pull out into the side of me a few years ago out of a side junction. They still tried to blame me. We had two witnesses, one on his side and one on mine. What helped my case was taking a bundle of photographs of the junction the following week. It was then a clear case. Have a look at the junction and see whether a set would help you out.

Glad to here you are OK. Just thank god that you had not got your bike last week, do not like to think what would have happend if you was on your bike. been to a few biker outings and there are always people there with a story, at the end of the day it is just a bit of steal and a few bolts n stuff

been to hospital this morning guys, four and half hours in accident and emergancy, was refered there after an early morning visit to the doctors! they think ive pulled muscles etc in my neck/shoulders area. been on the phone to the insurance people the guy has admited fault so hopefully fingers crossed will be sorted asap. been on the phone to the people fixing ma car they said i need ma bumper and arches replaced, they are testing the geometry of the car as they think the wheels aint aligned no more! so with them being replaced hopefully you wont be able to tell i have even had an accident! still driving round in ma curtosy corsa til at least wednesday then! want mg back :( not quite the same, feels like im driving a van around! still better than nothing! at least the petrol is cheaper! going to start proceedings for a whiplash claim, if i just want enough to cover the amount ill loose selling the car for less cos its been in an accident! so hopefully ill not actually loose anything other than sleep and stress!

Sorry to here about the accident Dee.
Make sure you get that personal injury/loss of earnings claim in ;)
Hope it gets sorted soon, but have to warn you that when I had my little prang, MGR couldn't get me a new bumper any time soon, they could only put it on back-order for an indefinate peroid of time :(
As I wasn't claiming on the insurance, I got one from a scrappy instead as it was much faster/easier, but that won't be an option for you, so just hope for your sake MGR have sorted out there parts situation :O
Having your car damaged is bad enough, but having to drive a Corsa must be gut renching ;) Does your insurance cover you against damage to your street cred?

Sorry to hear that babe. I can only imagine what it’s been like without your baby ... it’s the one thing that makes me smile at the moment given my split with my lady. Anyway enough of my rant.... on to the serious stuff

(1) Why you selling up Dee..... Finally going to buy the 360 Modena huh?

(2) The re-sale value should not be affected if the car is brought back up to full working order. If I am not mistake other then a write off the insurance company must restore the car to full mechanical and cosmetic glory at no cost to you as you were not the offending party

Wish you well babes ........ XXX :cloud9:

Yeah, this is definately the case. The whole point of the insurance, is that you get your car back in the exact same state as it was before the d!ck crashed into it. I had somebody backend my TF, and the garage did a great job, but didn't respray the towing eye that pops through the rear grille. The garage didn't want to do it, but the insurance company gave them a kick up the @rse and they had to sort it out, even though it was sooo minor. I've even had insurance companies get repair garages to keep changing the horn before too, just didn't sound the same :)

Just remember, cars can be fixed, people can't!! As long as you're okay, that's the main thing

just been on the phone to the garage again, my car which was due to be fixed on wednesday isnt due back til at least the start of next week. apparently because mg are **** at supplying parts cos they dotn make enough for the cars, tehy only make enough parts for new cars, tehy dotn make extras for accident cars! can you belive it? but he wouldnt give me a number to ring up and complain! even though they said they were (apparently) spraying the car on friday!

I did warn you :eyes:
Had exactly the same thing happen. The garage quoted me 4 day to spray and fit a new bumper so I booked it in for the following week.
Dropped it of on the Mon and was told it would be ready Thurs. Rang them Wed and was told it would be ready Fri :cus:
Rang them Friday and was told they couldn't get a new bumper, and MGR couldn't tell them hoe long it would be. So I rang round a load of breakers are tracked down a used one. This then took 2 days to be sprayed and fitted, so what should have been a 4 day job ended up lasting almost 2 weeks! And 2 months later, I still haven't heard from MG when they will have a new bumper in stock :***:
