Looks like a Laguna one.

Insurance groups are always different between different sources. One can put it in a group 17 and still be cheaper than another which rates it at 15. Shop around is the only way.

The turbo is definately higher than the VVC though.

I have a VVC Coupe and think its a quick little motor. Takes some revs to get it going, but a few mods will see it at a healthy figure, but don't be looking to push the output to far, as its high as it is, and will cost a fortune to get it running hell of alot more.

The Turbo's are fantastic, was after one for such a long time, too picky though, I've got an ace one lined up for if/wehn the owner gets bored:cloud9:

They are expensive to run though, but if ur not after a newish car, it can be offset by buying an older one, (They are dirt cheap now) and paying more on the insurance.

Oh yeah - the VVC is definitely a quick little thing! Ed's right, it does take a bit revs wise to get it going, (max power is at a gloriously high 6,250rpm), so there is a superb power band from the engine. (I guess that's why many Lotus Elise's have the K series?)

To be honest, there's almost a mini-turboesque 'kick' when the revs reach 4,000 and the VVC really kicks in the power.....but that could just be my driving!

145BHP as standard is quick enough for most......drop a decent panel filter in and 150BHP aint far off.... :naughty:

A word of warning though. Make sure you check the car's history. If it has done more than 50k and HASN'T had its belts, stat and water pump replaced, they will need doing....otherwise yer engine could try to steam-clean itself!

I faxed the dealer today as I found there site had some nice offers on it.

In the end they offered me the same Rover Coupe 1.8 vvc, 1998 r-reg, no air-con, FSH, 77k on the clock.

Plus
Full service after sale inc. cam belts and anything else that needs doing like new tyres.
Full MoT after sale
Full valet
Hpi check
90-point safty check (whatever that is!)
3 month warrenty (can be extended)

for $4500

They wernt keen on taking my car for that price though.

Is it right that the market is crap at the moment then?, cause this might alow me get them down abit futher.

Is this still quite pricey?

cheers

Do they know what they are doing when it comes to changing the cambelts, and what else needs doing. If not, it's nearly as bad as not doing it.

I would try to get the equivilent off what it would cost to get MGR to do it. Somewhere in the region of £300.

I doubt you will get a dealer to drop much below £4500 for that car if they are going to do all the work to it. It is a lot of car for the money. Has it got the full leather interior, or half?

half leather, all the ones i've seen with full leather have a lot more wear on them, especially on the drivers lumber support which makes the car look and feel misused.

There is a small ciggy burn in the back seat leather, does anyone know how much this would cost to fix.

I'm pretty sure that 99% of the car is fine, tyres look good the cam belt was done 20k ago.

My Coupe had 47k on the clock when i bought it. It Wasn't quite 'mint' in condition (usual spoiler blisters/few small scratchs) but was otherwise much better than A1 condition.

The dealer in Chesterfield wanted £4650. Did some haggling to get it to £4500 then got a grand off that by part-exchanging.

For a car with 73k on it seems a little pricey. Having said that, i've never seen a VVC for less that 4 grand unless it had uber-high mileage on an older 'N' plate.

Assuming you get it FULLY checked out, it will be the best car you have owned. Trust me. T-Bar is lovely, interior is great too. I have a few mates with new Beemers who think the MK3 dash and interior in my Coop is better than theirs!

They aint perfect (some rattles etc) but for what you pay you will get a real head-turner, superb MPG (40+ if you cruise at 60mph) and a bonkers powerful N/A engine that just keeps on pulling.

Just remember to get the Stat and pump done with the belts. Make sure they replace the sprocket bolts AND loctite them in.!

Interested in a well looked after Coupe Turbo??? :D

I'll be selling it soon!!!!

Alot more of a beast than a VVC and cheaper!!! :D (Soz to VVC coupe owners!!! Gf does have a VVC MGF - nice high revvy engine) :D

My coupe has done more miles than the MGF but is smoother and quieter!! :D

Its the torque which makes you smile!!! Use only 4500 rpm and it will pull you past the traffic, unless someone is trying - then you will have to make the turbo whistle more!!! :D

I pay £800 FC!!!! insurance :D It does pay to shop around - I had a quote of £11,304!!!! :err:

It is Grp17

Many thanks ,Mark

Yes it's the FSE - just another tweeking device to mess with!! :D

All of them had impact bars after 94 (when the airbags were fitted) If you wind down the window and peer in you can see them welded to the outer door skin - nothing exciting but adds to the security spec.

It's done 94K miles (which is average!! :D ) If it had done less, I'd prbably try and ask for more!! ;) Yes there are ones with less miles, and I have seen them and they were nowhere near as good - A test drive would confirm this!! :naughty:
The are plenty of T-series past 100K and 200K miles!! :D
Still dead smooth and sounds 'tight' - alot smoother than the gf's MGF!!! :D
But its had Mobil 1 oil for the past 50K miles.

Its got a comprehensive service history, which means deatails of all work carried out and reciepts - a bag full to be precise!!
2 service hand books as its had more services then the manufacturer specifies, basically as soon as the oil turns a slight browny colour, I change it, which is about every 3-4K miles.

Before me it had 35K on the clock and a full Rover service history with the only other owner!! :D

Your quite welcome to have a look, even if your not interested yet!!

I want to sell soon!!! :D

I'm going on holiday soon aswell so either before or after.

You could see it sooner and you might be tempted!!! :D

Might be better as the insurance company will add a bit on your premium so not a big wack and you be able to have it sooner for a few months!!! :D

Thats what I'm going to do as my insurance is up in October.
Nothing better than getting a new car and having the summer to enjoy it!!!
