Can anyone help me and avoid my 2003 1.8T becoming a scrapper?
I blew the head gasket big-time and due to it 'hydraulicing' I now need to replace 2 con-rods.
No-one, it seems, can source these as they are particular to the 1.8T engine. The current manufacturers have no stock and cannot even quote a projected delivery.
The part number stamped on the rod is LFF 000410, although new they come as a set with piston and, I think, the liner.
Without this my lovely, 60,000 mile 1.8T Conn will be heading for the scrap yard sometime soon.

It's really not economical to fit a new engine as this would cost c.£3200 inc labour and the car is barely worth £4000. It is probably worth over £800 as scrap which just about balances out.
I think I've found a pair of rod/piston/liner sets. I'm just hoping that they are for the 1.8T and not just a 1.8, as the rods are different. The stockist has assured me that they are, so we shall see. Let's hope so!
