thankyou for this, but i really am a novice at this kind of thing lol

 

If your not getting any warm air i think it mean's the resistor has gone or something & i think there hard to get hold of but not hard to replace should you find one, but i am no expert!

 

If it's blowing on all four then the Resistor Pack is fine.
i would say either heater valve is stuck or airlock/blockage not allowing air to the heater matrix

 

i would look for leaks,even if the levels are looking ok.if there's a airlock,it means air has got in,and water has got out.it does'nt take a lot of air to stop the coolant circulating,and hot air/heater, is the first thing to be lost.

 

so take it to the garage then , or get the nice \mg mechanic on here to sort it

 

It could be a blockage or maybe the linkage from the heater control has become detached.

Personally, I doubt it's a leak if the coolant level is ok, but opening the bleed screw only takes a moment, so that's definitely something worth trying (with the filler cap off).

Check the cable on back of the temp knob and on the heater assembly

 

thanks for all the replies guys.

after 30 mins today of the car being on , i all of a sudden had hot air again, seems strange, do you think it still may need bleeding ?

 

Most probably, this is a symptom of trapped air- sometimes ok, sometimes not

 

try bleeding the system,including squeezing the coolant pipes,but again,have a look for leaks,as air getting in,means coolant getting out,its only takes a small amount of air to stop circulation.

 

so i looked at my expansion tank today as the mrs said i had no hot air and it was empty, so i filled it up and waited, still no hot air and i couldnt see any leaks coming from any where.

 

If the expansion tank was empty you probably have an airlock somewhere in the system after adding coolant in... which will stop warm coolant getting to the heater matrix

 

look at the usual places known for leaks,waterpump,inlet manifold,thermostat housing,and coolant pipe connections,radiator.if the coolant bottle is empty,water has got out.it does not take a lot of coolant to be lost to have more serious problems,its a very low capacity system.

 

could the be a sympton of Head gasket Failure looming ???
