cold air to face - adjustment lever

Between the 2 the vents in the centre of the dash (i.e. above the radio) there is the lever that can be adjusted to mix in 'some cold air' with whatever the heater control is set too. however i can't feel any difference! is this normal ...or should there be definite cold air coming through???

The cable from the lever seems to work ok & rotates something under the passenger glove box - presumably a flap in the ducting above.

all the other vents 7 ducts blow air strongly, although the 2 mentioned are the weakest - however they let a fair amount of air through so just assume this is the design rather than a blockage ...is there a way of checking, as i can see how to get access???

thanks
chris

ps. have replaced pollen filter & cleaned out area around filter.

I find the drop in temperature when moving the lever is subtle, maybe 5-10 degrees, but it can be felt. This is once the engine is hot and heater control set to hot.

Those vents don't seem to blow out as much air as the side vents in mine.
If you close the big vent on top of the dash you find the air flows quite strongly from the face vents.....I've never really found much use for the top vent anyway.

Strongest if vent selector on foot&face setting.

Cheers folks. At least Sounds like mines working like all yours - just not the blast of very cold air I was hoping for
