yeah ive seen that but what do i do with it as i have a enclosed incuction kit?
i had the exact filter mate and according to pipercross website best way to clean it is:

wash in luke warm water with normal washing up liquid
rinse out thouroughly with clean warm water
let it dry NATURALLY and COMPLETELY.
after that is done put some fresh dirt retentive spray on the foam

this makes a difference and you will be surprised at how much crap comes out believe me.

hope this helps mate.

Halfords sell the cleaning kits. I bought the K&N one, but they have others. It lasts for ages and you get everything you need to refresh the filter.
I would not advise a dishwasher TBH.

a viper isnt 100% enlosed, you can grab hold of the foam, also theres wot looks like a joint on the body of the filter so thought it might come apart there.
