Bake it in the oven if it fits?

 

Would that do anything? Surely it would just melt the plastic?

Could try leaving it soaking in full fat coke for 24 hours, that stuff shines pennies up like noones business, not sure if itd have the same effect on chrome but it might help.

Other than that can get someone to sandblast it. *shrugs*

Im using a Stanley knife atm but not greatly successful :/ just wondering if anyone had any bright ideas to speed up the process.

 

aceton -> we use it to remove the chrome from RC-wheels

but test it on a non visible area because some plastiks will melt

Where can i get acetone? Will stuff like white spirit work the same or not?

 

Just scrape it off with a sharp knife. Because it's not really chrome, just a plasticy chromey covering, nothing else really works.

 

nail polish remover, comes as acetone free for use on acrylic nails, or the more potent stuff has acetone as the main ingredient. but make sure to wipe it off any plastics before it melts them.

 

I have been. Just wanted something to speed up the process...me being lazy i guess lol...back to peeling some more today.

 

it does take a while. a little heat does make it more pliable

 

i started trying this - but after ending up stabbing myself a few times i brought a ZR grill instead. far less painful and looks good too

 

Im not giving up...I've cut all the centre section out so be pointless quitting now lol.heating with a hair drier seems to be helping ftw!

Haha i no I've come across how sharp thru strips are the hard way!! And no standing wont work :/

 

Right all the chrome is now off!! will post a pic Friday before and after painting.

 

Can't the chrome just be painted over after sanding down and then using something like a plastic primer before doing a top coat?

 

I was going to do that but a friend did that to his.udand after one doorway drive it peeled off so i thought id do it properly.
