Hi MarkyDoos

I guess you got the new one with the latest stuff that Tony Fry has been testing.

I put the old one in but I am still struggling to get a signal for the DVB-T box. Sean is now supplying a twin aerial system for them but I haven't seen them yet.

Have you managed to install the TV box yet? The one I got off him fitted down the driver side of the inside of the dash; to the right of the unit as you push it in the hole. I have lots of pictures in various posts on the forum so do a search for the 2-Din unit with my user name. You should come across them.

Sorry I am too tired tonight I have been digging trenches for sewer drains for the last two days and too buggered to think straight at the moment.

Come back tomorrow when I am a bit more comp us mendis or whatever it is.

I'll post something a little more useful tomorrow.

The only way I got a digital TV signal was to use a boosted aerial.
The only one that came with my unit was an analogue one which was useless.
Got one like the BMW shark fin ,took all the electronics out of the casing and put it under the cover of the top rear window brake light.
Works a treat.
If its like mine, digital TV only works on the AUX function.
not sure if its like yours

Hi there ,
I wish i could post photos on here to show you what came with my DVB-T - the one i have is the latest one from RADIOGUY , I only wish they came with instructions - i have an AV lead - with an 8th inch jack on one end and the red/yellow/white on the other - i have a weird looking digital tv/fm antenna that has white plastic on it - i have a red and black wire that leads to the av in on one end and 2 bare wires on the other ( its the power but i have no idea where the 2 bare wires attaches to , i have a black lead with an 8th inch stereo jack on one end and a round reddish looking ball on the other - then i have an analogue ariel , plus the DVB-T box that has red light on one side with what looks like a usb fitting beside it , and on the other end of the dvb-t box i have these fittings - power - av out - rf in - ir in . . . . . . . . . I really have no idea what to do with this folks . . . . . . . has anyone purchased the same one from RADIOGUY lately ? ? ? can you help ?

Thanks

Should be receiving mine next week mate, and I'll be able to help you out then, along with Mr Edd.
Any sign yet ? ?

Hi tere ,
Did you get your double din yet ? ? Im eagerly waiting some help with mine :)

Thanks

Mark
I fancy having a go at the DVB-T for the radio stations but until someone gets it going im gonna hold fire
Hi Mark,

I received an email saying that the unit is on it's way, I'm expecting it to arrive this week or early next.
The only way we could get Edds working was putting a decent aerial on the roof of the car, so I think the way to go is a BMW or Tourer dorsal fin
Still haven't got mine working. The guys at York had it all out and fiddled but still no joy.

I think I need one of these shark fin things from somewhere and someone who knows how to fit it.

I only wanted it for the digital radio anyway.

And I still have whistling Dixie on AM and fuzzy on FM Everything else is fine.

DVB-T needs a really strong signal to work, either a ****e aerial or a weak signal area will mean you lose the signal.

A decent aerial, preferably an external one is essential.

I have the BMW digital tuner on my hiline system and the standard built in the glass aerials are just adequate, but even then I lose signal in some areas.

As regards listening to DVBt radio on the move, forget it, the signal breaks up really bad when on the move, it can only be used when stationery.

Best bet is to get a DAB adaptor for your system and use that, I have one and it works a treat, Planet Rock, yay!

Regards, Rob.
As mentioned, you need a boosted aerial (powered) and as already mentioned its not great when on the move.
If you get a shark fin like the BMW ones you can put it on the rear roof area but I took the electronics out of the plastic shark fin and put it in the rear back window brake light casing and it works pretty well.
As for wiring it,the DTV box has a red,a white and a yellow RCA plugs which plug into the rear of the head units plugs marked Video 1 (yellow) sound (red and white) each plug unto the same coloured AUX plugs.
The other wires on the plug (red and yellow) are for ignition switched power and the yellow for the perminent battery feed.
The digital aerial plugs into the DVT box and uses a small connector which is hard to find.
If you get a powered aerial you may need to cut the plug off the dud aerial that comes with the unit and solder it to the new boosted aerial.
The digital TV will only work on the AUX function and you will then need to do a channel scan for it to find the relevant channels.

the small plugs on the DVB boxes (and sat nav ariels as well) are called 'sub minature type A' irrc the type B looks the same but the pin is off center , they can be bought from the likes of RS and CPC , ill have a word with my radio fella and see if he can source some wholesale and ill post up in my sig if folk want them
gawd these things look like a huge amount of hastle to get working, and to think I offered to buy one today, luckilly the seller tuned down my offer :errx2: that was a close call, :trophy:

Not really that hard, most of the unit just plugs straight into the cars ISO plugs, apart from tapping into the steering wheel control wires on the iso plug, the only other fidley bit really is the DTV box

Would confirm the comment regarding using DVB-T on the move.

I think a lot of you are confusing the radio station broadcasts on DVB-T that are transmitted by freeview and true digital radio broadcasts on DAB, they are not the same.

The only way to have good digital radio reception mobile is to have a head unit with DAB or to use a DAB adaptor as Rob does.

EDIT: Another problem if using DVB-T is the freeview box would have to be retuned when you left the reception area of the transmitter.

EDIT2: Found this regarding the analogue radio switch off, might be of interest.

Decent Ariel ?

Hello
What do you mean by decent ariel ? Sean/Radioguy assured me that the ariel supplied with the unit has been an upgraded one . . .
