Why do you wan to store over winter?

Are you talking about complete storage for a fair bit of time. If so then you should really replace oil (to remove corrosives and water) and filter and coolant before storing. May also be beneficial to charge up the battery every now and then. Long periods of time can damage radial tyres so should jack up car or remove wheels, but most modern tyres are fine and will drive out any flat bits after a few miles..

Ive heard rumours of small volumes of petrol degrading over long periods of time so I think its best to fill her up beforehand! again thought most good quality petrol wont.

Best thing to do though is to just take the car out now and again on decent days, even just turn it over and let it heat up and move a bit in the garage. Save you doing the other stuff.

Dave is right about the handbrake. I have recently returned from only a two week holiday and when i drove my car there was a horrible cracking/snapping noise from the wheels when i first moved the car. i am sure it must have been the H/brake.

Cheers

I never have the handbreak on in the garge, so thats not a problem.

I will store it till about February next year. The only outing will be to sort the bloody rear radius arms, if i can get it to a Rover dealer to sort (and at great expenceÂŁÂŁÂŁ  )

I was told that the rear drums can get damp with humidity and cause problems?

Spot-on advice there Broon

I'd jack the car up to remove any possibility of the tyres flat-spotting.

Disconnect the battery and hook it up to a battery conditioner - this gadet will keep it topped up over the storage period.

Is the garage quite dry?

The garage is quite dry.

If i remove the battery, will it cause any problems with the MEMS ECU??

I reccon i will jack the car up on axil stands and remove the wheels. A great time to underseal the car:)

Dave, how much do you reconn it would cost me for an MG ROVER to do my rear radius arms?

Remove it Jon - it will be better for MEMS in the long run m8

All dealers do the raduis arms differently - it ain't cheap m8

We fit recon arms (Much quicker than mucking about with new bearings) They are ÂŁ80 each+VAT

I'd reckon on 3hrs for the job, start to finish.

I'd assume a national labour rate of ÂŁ46
