starter motor or air in the fuel line :p

dad sed it was trying to try over so am guessing it fuel pump but don't have a clue lol cheers tho mate going to see if we can see whats rong with it soon
Check the cambelt hasnt snapped too!

shouldn't have its only done 20,000 miles if it has gone but will check
Has it actually got fuel in it? Don't trust the gauge.

But also potentially past its age for changing it if he hasn't. Its not just mileage related.

Moved to the correct section as this is a Land Rover being talked about.

yh mate he put fuel in it last night but will check to see if its priming and cambelt and water pump was only changed last year bud

and sorry mate posted in here as this section is way more active and its a k series engine but i do apologise
Petrol needs at least 10 litres in it if it has run dry as an absolute minimum.
check the fuel cut off switch.....................

was going to check that mate and cheers stu will keep that in mind for the future :) and all sorted the main ht leed that feeds the dizzy cap had come off from the coil pack so all sorted and is back on the drive :)

appreciate the replys and input will keep it all in mind if it cuts out again without the leed at fault
HT leads! Oh you have sorted it!

yeh mate replaced them a few hundred miles before the main one came off but silly really the new ones well the main one that feeds the dizzy cap is way way to long but o well she still going strong for now :)
I know the problem is now sorted, but with any engine the best place to start is with the ignition as 9 times out of 10 when an engine just suddenly stops this is where the fault lies, quite often people will jump to all sorts of conclusions like a slipped timing belt or a broken sensor even a blown engine! Their minds automatically think the worst!

lol yeh mate true do jump to the worst thing it could be but better to no what it could be so that could make sure everything is ok as i didn't fancy trying to tow the thing but thankfully was just the ht lead that had come off :)
