Ahhh neither Black or White is a colour ......................................... it's a shade and not a colour!

I happen to like some shades of White for a car. Old English white is stunning. Saw a Rover 75 in this shade with the Aubergine "Personal Line interior and it really was a cracking looking motor. Too far and too much for my budget though.

Yel Jaguar Mk11's and of course the rounded shape of the Rover 75 suits it well. Of course Rover also offered the P5 and P5B in it as well. Would love a 3 Litre P5.

A friend of mine had a 200vi in old english. looked very smart. Another friend changed his amaranth 200 to jaguar old english white, looked outstanding!

Funny enough we saw a 75 in this shade for sale as we drove to Lincoln. It had a label in the screen Diesel but I didn't catch the price and we didn't come back the same way so didn't pass it then.

Is it me or is red back in fashion?

Neighbours daughter bought a red 60 plate Corsa recently and another neighbour bought a new Fiesta again in red and I'm seeing more new or nearly new red cars on the road these days.

German car club ADAC reports these are the top five in Germany in 2013 per official stats (2012 German figures in brackets):

1. Black 28.3% (29.5%)

2. Grey 27.9% (29.4%)

3. White 17.9% (15.7%)

4. Blue 8.5% (8.2%)

5. Red 6.3% (5.9%)

White is the big winner, brown was ahead of red last year but has slipped out of the top five. And last year Germany already had twice the proportion of white cars that total Europe had...(!) so given Germany's importance in total Europe, most other countries must have very few white ones!

EDIT I imagine that Germany and the UK are two of the four largest markets in the EU, so if they *both* have a substantially-higher proportion of white cars than the EU average, all the other countries together presumably have virtually no white cars.

Or the figures are inconsistent. (Can't believe "no white 500s"(!) )

Almost all the BMW e90 3-series and the 1 series were grey. Its as if they only came in one color. I've deliberately left a wing mirror covered in ductape so I can find mine in a carpark

Then when the f-30 came out they all seem to be white

Autumn 2014: the new 2-series B*W is available in white or black (the only non-metallic colours) or:

1 metallic white, 1 metallic black
4 silvers/greys
1 brown (!)
3 blues (light blue for M Sport only)
1 red.

So out of 13 colours, only 5 are not black/white/silver/grey, and they are red, blue and brown!

I've noticed a lot more brown cars as of late. In the early 80's, my mates parents had a Morris Ital SLX in Russet Brown, with a 1.7 engine if I remember correctly. I thought it was well posh compared to my old mans MKII Capri, even in brown.

White is all very well, but you wait 'till it snows & no one will be able to find thier car.

Rover used to do a beautiful bronze colour long before anyone else - same as the metallic British Racing Green, out before any one else was brave enough.

Nice example, but as that's the last-gen 3 so not that new.

There are some lovely browns/golds/bronzes available. I'm sure Rover started the trend (maybe)

I'm just getting rid of my four year old White Audi and ordering a new Beluga Brown one!

Brown cars are coming back in again!

Oh and from experience if you drive a white car in the snow some people don't see you and almost take you out...on the other hand when it isn't snowing they think you're a Police car!

Non metallic dark blue was universally caller 'Doom Blue' in the motor trade, as it sold so badly.
