Hi,

After spending many hours reading threads about 75's and the KV6 Engine ive decided to join and ask advice. Within the next few months id like to Purchase a Conn se hopefully with satnav. Ideally id like a 2.5 Auto but id probably consider a manual or the 2.0. The following questions id like to ask are:

1) anything i should look out for when driving i.e engine like noise (i know its supposed to sound like a cat purring, but havnt heard one)
2) Whats a safer choice for reliability and ease of maintainence the auto or manual.
3) Can the sat nav be updated with the last software release in 2005
4) Are high millage example still worth looking at

Cheers JN12

high mile ones are ok as long as they are looked after, but be aware it is a cam belt service at 90k which is a 9 hour job! look for rattles on manifold andthe thermostat leaking between the 2 Vs of the engine as they are prone to this and expensive, apart from the the engines are normally sound but dont seem to take well to L.P.G. the 2.0l seems a little under powered the 2.5 is alot better but thirsty. auto is reliable but expensive to service. be aware of all the common 75 faults too.

sorry i cant help out on satnav.

hope this helps

Agree with everything said above , except the 2.0 being underpowered ; compared to the Morris Minor I used to have , it's a beast ! All the v6 variants are lovely cars , but on this and other forums it is acknowledged that the 2.5 auto is a bit thirsty . For reference , my 2.0 gives 29mpg measured over many months to include all sorts of driving. The 2.5 auto seems to give about 25 ( based on other poster's comments ). They are both high revvers , so when testing dont be afraid to check out the performance as at low revs you may be unimpressed ! It starts to growl at about 3000 rpm ! Good luck..............

obviously i have never owned one so i can only give technical advice, people like chris are much better at answering your day to day driving, sorry chris i didnt mean that how it sounded i actually meant to write underpowered compared to 2.5 but as you pointed out you get better fuel ecomony!

*my personal opinion only!*

If you go for a 2.0 litre V6 try and get a manual, the Auto often cant decide which gear it wants to be in when exiting islands, corners etc. Makes driving it hard work IMO !

I know a lot of folk here have 2.0 autos but it was never my favourite.

love the car its smooth as silk until you plant your right foot, unfortunatly it will probably have to go after christmas as divorce is making it uneconomical to keep.. hope you find a good un
