I am looking at possibly buying a 75 tourer as my current car is too small and they seem good value. Any advise re performance etc would be welcome currently have a 320 BMW so would like similar power though bigger car may need 2.5. What is the difference between the 174 bhp and 150 bhp 2.5 engines and how do you tell the difference. One more qeustion What is the HLNAV spec is this sat nav ????. Sorry for all questions but all specs and model names can be confusing. Have looked at parkers but they don't tell much.

Many thanks Russ.

I've had a 1.8 and currently have a cdti 135+, I like both engines but I think the diesel better suits the charchter of the car and is probably the most reliable of the lot and the most economical. I think the HLNAV is High Line Sat Nat and incorporates a tv. Best confirm this.

When my dad was looking he just looked at the Contemporary and Contemporary SE models for max. kit as standard, but ROver did loads of options so no two cars are the same as many people seem to have bought the car then added lots on!!! I'd go for the CDTI as well. Great engine with lots of torque as you'd expect and great MPG

Would def advise the cdti... bmw diesel engine and smooth as it comes... weve just got back from hols in france its done near 3000 miles in 4 days... didnt miss a heartbeat... and its mow on 105k miles.. sounds like the day it was bought.. very reliable engine.. no cambelt worries either... v6 is a dear doo if i remember...

There probably won't be much noticable difference between the 150 and the 174, I don't know much about the V6 Rovers, I've got a V6 ZT though, its definately nippy enough. The V6 is really quite quiet when taking it easy, especially compared to the diesel which is pretty rough (compared to the petrol). First few times I took it out I thought I'd stalled it because it was so quiet!

real world difference between the 2 engines will be negligable, the 150 will be slightly better on fuel, and the 174 will be slightly faster, will better pull at higher speeds. But its not enough to make one or the other must have.
