Which are the best bulbs to use to get the distinctive super bright white/blue look in the headlight without having to use a hid upgrade kit?

Depends. Do you just want the look, or do you actually want to see?

If you just want the look, get some of those "Xenon HID super bulbs" or whatever off eBay. They are tinted blue, but don't give out much light.

If you want to see as well, spend some ÂŁÂŁÂŁ and get some of the philips blue vision bulbs, or the halfords super brilliance ice blue ones. Not cheap, but work pretty well.

But, the actual HID kits aren't too expensive either, and you can see brilliantly.

i got the ZR aswel, im going to put HIDs on but the only thing is i noticed everyone just puts the HID on the main beam, im going to splash out and put HIDs on both the main and lows, i dont want my lights looking white on one side then yellow on the other, im going with 10,000K ones which are nearly the brightest you can get, does anyone know if these are legal? i havent heard yet that any HIDs no matter the intesity being illegal.

I thought the lower the temperature the brighter the light, the higher temperatures (e.g. 10,000K) give the blue-ish colour but have less illumination, about 30% less than the 4300K (which are a slightly yellowish white).

I have to start saving as the 200 uses H4 dual beams so looking at ÂŁ70 for a set. Had a subaru imprezza courtesy car last week and it was totally rubbish apart from the headlights which were awesome.

Mine only have a slight blue tint, they are more like a natural daylight bulb, very clear light output, but it also depends where you got it from too !!!

I would not waste your money puttung it in the high beam as HID bulbs come on dim and need 20 - 30 second to warm up and get to optimum operating temperature, mine flicker once when they do so !!!
