Hi everyone. Hoping you can help me. My S plate Rover 400 recently had a heater problem - when we looked it into, it turned out that the head gasket had gone, and it was rapidily losing water.

We had this replaced, but my girlfriends rung me this morning saying the heaters gone again, and when she lifted the bonnet, the water was steaming. She hasn't checked the oil yet, but was hoping you could tell me if there are any other causes of a faulty heater - can it be the head gasket again? (the last one was fixed by a reputable Skoda garage where my friends the body shop manager, so I'm reasonably sure it isn't dodgy work)

Where is the steam coming from?

It could be caused by a coolant leak or faulty coolant tank cap.

Have the garage carry out a coolant system pressure check.
