evening,

got the engine back in and all wired up etc.

tried 2 different batteries and jump leads too.

when i turn the ket to ignition position 2, not even the fuel pump primes; there is a clicking sound of the relay under the steering wheel, along with the one next to the ecu...when i turn it to start it doesnt even crank the started motor. its wired up correctly. there is a click as u turn it to this position, and the clock light etc. dim when u turn is, as they would do normally to provide enough current for the starter.

could this be related to a bad earth? i though maybe immboiliser at first, but the LED it not lit.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Andy

Bad earthling sounds like the culprit. The window motors were sounding very weak, as if the batt was about to die. I know it wasn’t as I tried my mums straight out of her focus, and that’s def ok as her car starts. This sound like a reasonable diagnosis, with the window motors sounding weak? Thanks

ahhh just been searching abit. seems i may have not reconnected the earth to the starter:O

should one of those leads from the batt earth terminal fit over the bolt that bolts the starter to the engine/gearbox?

if not, where's the earth for it?

Thanks, Andy

Andy stop posting in black, nobody can read it hardly.
The starter will not operate without the earth strap connected to the gearbox. It bolts just to the right of the clutch lever.

cheers mate. dunno why it keeps bloody going black. tried changing it back but then it highlights in white. oh well, not to worry.

Thanks Ashy
