Boot Leak (again)

Hi

Anyone got any ideas what could be causing this.

Mark 2 ZT SE leak dripping from the top of the offside rear wing between the sat nav and rear light. Too high to be side trim, boot rubber seal or rear light seal. Difficult to get access to see.

Rear screen and clips replaced 18 months ago. No leaks here.

Sun roof drains clear and running freely.

No signs of leaking from bolts securing boot hinge.

Have been told the likely cause is the body seal between the rear wing and inner boot pressing joint having failed. Anyone heard of a similar problem.

Any thought or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thats exactly where I managed to (eventually) trace my leak. I just took the surround off and put some clear silicaone into the gap and so far (after almost 3 years) it is still ok

If the above suggestion doesn't solve your problem then you should also check, if the leak is from ABOVE the chrome side strip, the rearmost section of the rear quarterlight which is situated in the REAR WING. Clear Silicon around that cured my bad leak.

I think Loctite should put on their products "endorsed by MG-Rover.org"

I had a leak from the underside wing on left hand side at the top of boot and traced it to a badly sealed windscreen seal down the left hand side.

Seems ok now after some Loctite.
