Hi.

Rover 214SLi (L Reg)

I find that when I turn the ignition on without the engine running I get a static type of regular sound on AM.

Anyone have any idea what might be causing it?

Ta for your help.

the aerial on the top of youre car is for FM signals only, the AM reciever aerial is built into the stereo

The aerial on a car is used for both AM and FM signals, it has to be because of the metal body of a car. On a home Hi-Fi it is different.....

Anyhow... the noise is there WITHOUT the engine running, just the ignition turned on to operate the warning lights, that's when the "static" type sound starts.

As for the aerial, I've got a 5 door 214SLi, BUT I can't fully extend it so i need a new one. Mayhaps it could be that?
