From Todays Autocar:

MG's new owner, Nanjing-based NAC, wants to start building V8, rear-drive versions of the MG ZT again, this time called MG7 V8s. No timescale is mentioned, but the company says it has all the plans and rights it needs, plus hundreds of V8 engines.

I saw that too, maybe a 'halo' performance model will help even if it doesn't make money. Will give the new VXR8 from Vauxhall featured in same edition some competition.

or they could just give the old 2 valver a better state of tune. I am assuming that those "hundreds of engines" that NAC have are the SOHC per bank 2 valve engines from the 260 - but maybe they could just buy the current head and retrofit them? The engine as currently made by Ford has 3 valves per cylinder and puts out 320bhp.

Well, work was pretty much done on the supercharger version, from what I remember Nic saying - although the size of the petrol tank is the main problem. As big as the ZT's tank is, it isn't enough for a thirsty V8.
