ASTRA’S A STAR AS VAUXHALL SALES AHEAD!
· Vauxhall is number one in UK market
· Astra is Britain’s best-selling car
· Vectra and Zafira also first in segment
· Number one for retail sales!
It’s not just nature that has a spring in its step at the moment, as April saw Vauxhall’s sales blossom.
A host of dynamic and stylish models encouraged buyers to take up Vauxhall’s unique
3-Day Test Drive offer, and as a result the Luton-based manufacturer has soared to the top spot in the sales charts, with 25,171 cars sold by the end of the month – 3,072 cars ahead of its nearest rival.
What’s more, the Astra ended the month as Britain’s best-selling new car, knocking the Ford Focus off top spot with 9,173 registrations.
The 3-Day Test Drive initiative contributed to this success, with on-line test drive requests up three-fold over March, helping Vauxhall claim top spot with retail customers and, at 10%, reaching the highest retail market share since August 2000.
Fleet sales were also up, with a 20.8 per cent share of the market being the highest in
12 months.
Vauxhall ended April with four of its models in the UK top 10 best seller list, and Zafira and Vectra were also first in their respective segments. Corsa was the other model in the top 10, and was the second best-selling car in the supermini sector.
Overall, Vauxhall achieved a 15.4 per cent share of the total new car market – its highest April figure since 1994!
And there’s even better news to come. As well as the continuation of the 3-Day Test Drive programme to the end of June, Vauxhall retailers will be taking delivery of the first Astra TwinTops at the end of this month, giving even more choice to the Vauxhall buyer.
