Recently mainly due to the facebook sites i find it hard to fit in with my car.
It seems unless your car is "slammed" to the point of being undriveable and smoothed then you dont get recognised in the clique...
Gets me down really seeing others getting recognised for just dropping the car and smoothing a bumper.
Im not fishing for compliments im just sad to see the scene only allows the same boring styling time after time just to fit in.
I went to the children in need cruise but left early as it was hundreds of fiesta and focus sts that all looked the same so me and my nephew went to kfc instead :D
When im out driving with the windows down i always hear good things being said and always chat with people when i park up about the car and MGs in general.
I know people dont always like stripes but i tried the car without them and it looks boring to me so had them re done, without them you just dont get noticed and are just the same as all other cars and just blend in with the traffic :)
As people may remember from before i had a shoulder op but it went well but didnt repair so i had a claim in against the council for the accident because i lost my job, earnings and im partially crippled because of it so waiting for the claim to come through as its going to court :)
Once its all done i will be getting an evo x as i have always wanted one and passing the ZR on to my nephew for free ofc so it stays in the family.

your a top man. dont let your car be broken. its reliable (i think) and has been for some time.

Problems with the car scene at the mo..

This is "cool" (actually broken) see its sat on the floor like a special child...

this is "uncool" see the ride height that goes over speedbumps and pot holes, and doesnt skip around like a kangeroo on speed on the road. way uncool because it too safe. lmao.

The whole reason I got a Rover/MG is to be different the world would be a boring place if everyone was the same. Also a nicely tuned MG will get alot more looks than any fiesta for the reason its not something you see everyday.

P.S "scene" style is the most pathetic thing i've ever seen! lol

I've driven a few evo X's,

Worst one ever made, look nice but have chocolate engines. The IX was by far the best looking car and best engine.

I used to work for Mitsubishi motors. So I drive a lot of evo's.

Don't let the little kids get you down, most of them smooth there car and drop it because they can't make em fast cause of insurance. I love smoking the slammed dub's, easy pickings.

Every time you feel got down by the scene go and smoke a div as I say!

I always get the "have you still got that ****ty mg" from alot of my mates or "that's a terrible car why did you buy that, has the head gasket been done haha"bla bla bla but funnily enough touch wood my car hasn't caused me an ounce of bother and has been one of he most reliable cars iv owned, and its cheap to run and fix. Whoop the head gasket fails ÂŁ200 to fix job done people act like the whole cars just turned to rubble because the water has mixed with the oil. But I do have the mates who really like it and were saying when I was going to sell it "why you doing that its a nice car and cheap etc" just run it into the ground. I like it for these reasons plus its fun factor and its not a ford focus, fiesta, Honda civic, vw golf or polo the usual gash. Just enjoy it people still get a bit of a fright when they realise there getting beaten in a straight line by a "****ty mg" :)

^^^

You're not wrong there ;)

It's worth knowing that one of the biggest car magazines did a poll in all cars and their reliability when it comes to maintenance and mot,

Some data from vosa,

Mg/river was at the bottom for breaking down and top for the cheapest to run.

Albeit a bit plastic and of a lower quality, it can out top for quality and reliability.

99% of people who say stuff like that no nothing about cars. I used to get comments like and I loved nothing more than proving them wrong in the best most embarrassing ways.

Plus don't you have a T Series? just shows how thick they are saying the head gasket is going to go on that engine lmfao!

There again, some of us like to have a very low profile and drive ordinary looking bog-standard old Rovers and MGs. Cars which look like they wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding.

That's my 'scene'.

There in a nutshell is one of the many attractions of driving an old turbocharged MG and Rover. Especially at the TLGP.

Never tire of that little ploy.

Some people never really grow up. Good eh? Gulity M'Lud.

HGF? A misnomer so not really a failure. A leak which many cars also have been known to do.

Most of the numerous T-Series cars I own or have owned, more than a dozen, only one had a minor leak there.

The cure, the occasional wipe over with a cloth. The actual Cylinder Head Gasket still doing a fine job!

Love the green zed :D
Always loved Evos but trying not to sound old now I want power and comfort as my shoulder is ******.
I loved the EVO 8 fq400 but getting an older model you just don't know how bad it's been thrashed for the cash but with a t16 they are 10 a penny if you need another engine.
Always thought about going onto the zs or zt for comfort as I don't want to abandon mg :)
The green I love is dodge green with envy its so nice it's unreal.

Evo's are everything but comfortable though :p
Imprezas are less hardcore and offer more comfort if you want something similar.

The focus rs is far far better car than the evo X,

Just thought if throw that out there,

A T series 75 has not been done yet!
Are we talking quality or performance?
Because performance-wise, the RS is pretty terrible for what it is (same goes for the DA3 ST). On a track, they both get outrun by much lesser powered cars, even more so by similarly powered sports cars / hatches.

MGjohn,

A leak is a gasket failure, a gasket is a seal between two surfaces to stop fluid and gas leaks. So do you not agree a oil leak from a gasket is a gasket failure?

(not trying to teach you to suck eggs, just trying to highlight the many different scenarios of a HGF)

Not the same thing at all as with so called K-Series CHG 'failures'.

I got a nail in a tyre the other day. The tyre was a failure as I could not drive on. Not a failure, more like tyre damage.

For thousands of miles, I could drive on the one T-Series with a minor leak in that area where the high pressure oil supply to the DOHC passes between block and head without harming the engine. It may NOT be the gasket at fault, but poor interface sealing between head and block. Some folks give that area an extra good clean up and so remove more metal from the interface which actually worsens, not improves the situation. If not a good interface, the massive oil pressure with high revs at that spot will allow some oil to escape. Only a weep, any more than a weep and something else must be wrong.

Poor head skim can also make things worse there.

Easy fix anyway.

I'm looking for 400bhp or around that with a comfy ride. Sick of anything ford as they are common as muck around here and are a bit low on power for the price range.
Just want to go over a speed bump without whiplash :D
I hear the EVO x dash is a bit "cheap"

So ditch an all around good car just for a sound you dont like?
Also, I would think everyone's old enough in this forum to know that sound is a matter of taste ;)
Certainly not comparable to a tractor though lol.

Thank you!! Although the big chunky cosworth I w I wouldn't mind a shot if but bin the rest

Very hard to find a pretty nippy car that's good in fuel aswell hence the mg :) a heap runabout for me at one point i now went and bought a better one because I like it so much

Evo, scooby or focus ST - oh come on theres no comparison, I've been a HUGE ford fan for 25years and had loads of them but even I wouldnt need to think twice it would have to be the evo.

Not understanding this thread, "scene"- and? why do you want to be noticed, you've done your mods, car looks fantastic, your happy with what you've done? good enough in my eyes

Hehe love the old cosworth, what I ment with the scene thing is I post a pic and I get maybe 3 likes then another guy posts a pic with retarded camber or 1mm off the floor and he gets 30likes.
Glad to see I'm not the only guy who thinks being 1mm off the ground will only get you body and engine damage and make you look like a tit when the contents of your sump is all over the local high street.
There's an EVO 8 up the road from me for sale but I don't have the funds at the moment to grab it :(

Comfey and fast.... ztv8? Just tune it up a little. Gotta love that v8 rumble.

I used to work for mitsy aswell in a group franchise with rover in Manchester. I left when the evo 9 just came out. IMHO the best one was the 260. Fast enough and softly sprung.

who cares what other think of your car. If you like it what else matters. I drive round in a 84ps R25 but still my mates cant believe how nippy it is for a 1.4 Just wait till I find 105 throttle cable. woo!

Owning arguably one of the most recognisable and OTT ZRs, I have been the subject of a lot of hate and derogatory comments. Much of it from on here as well as various other MG/Rover based forums that I have frequented, but I have also had lots of praise as well. Yes you can follow the rest of the sheep and do what everyone else is doing to be part of the 'gang' or you can be different and just accept that the haters are going to hate regardless of what you do. Best advice is to do what you want. It is your car, make it to your own style and likes. Bugger what anyone else thinks. Opinions are like bum holes, everyone has one.
As well as my ZR I have recently bought an Alfa Giulietta that I have done a few mods on. Nothing OTT (well not in my eyes anyway) but you want to see the hate that I have generated already on the Alfa forum, especially as some of them have seen my ZR as well LOL :). Makes this place seem a realm of calm and content and relative sanity.
