You dont have to unzip it, but you do have to make sure the plastic window bends as you fold the roof back. In this warm weather its not such a big deal....but in cold or frost you have to be careful.

If its your first time as you pick up the car, you might want to unzip it until you can practice at home!

The 'magic temperature' is apparantly around 8 degrees C. Take real care with anything below this. Generally, it's flexible enough above this temp.
As Damien says, by unzipping you do avoid the possibility of getting crease lines in the screen. Fair to say most people don't usually unzip (myself included!)

dont forget when putting the roof down to push the bar above your head as it goes down, otherwise the roof wont fold down
Unless the little elastic bits are still working (as per Steve's thread). I put some new ones in and now have to straighten the roof corners when the hood goes down!

Keep a regular check on your coolant level (which should be more or less on the seam line)

Lastly, when you pick her up, don't forget to post some pics :)

As for the rear screen, I except for this weekend as I was on a run and spontaneous dicision whilst in traffic , will always unsip first with out fail, and lay flat .... I raised the hood after a few hours down with the screen not zipped and you always get that small kink that end up in yr rear view mirror... irratating..! it takes a minute to unzip and keep yr screen in good order... also beware in the frost... !

Not dippy, we all started the same. best to ask.

Some unzip some dont, we never have, but in very cold weather, allow the cockpit to warm up before folding, as the plastic is less brittle, also as you put the roof down, make sure the plastic folds properly by sliding your hand across.

Whe you put it down, sometimes it will stop about 15" up. to ease this in the short term lift back up and move the first bar backwards then put back down. In the long term, you can buy elasticated straps on ebay (hood lockup straps)vwhich go between the first two bars and stop this happening.

BUT far more important, drive her carefully, dont be tempted to hoof it until the oil is warmed up, and even more important until you are happy with how she drives. The handling of a rear wheel drive is totally different to a front wheel drive. Dont accelerate heavily on cornering, and corner smoothly.

Check wheels are on correct, are same make on each axle and are at the correct presdures.

Then enjoy.

If it's sunny, plenty of sun block and clear your diary for the next few days because you will just want to keep driving.

Turn the petrol pump to the 3 o'clock position when you are fueling up, this will help prevent the pump turning off!

Wave to other MG's.

Take lot's of photo's and post them on here so all your friends can see your gorgeous mid engined sports car.

Hope you have a great 'pick up day' :)
