Oh dear.

Any more damage than what is obvious?

 

From what I can see so far it's:

- headlamp
- bumper
- bonnet
- wing

The only real problem is that the structure behind the wing is pretty mashed up at the top so the wing is not simply a bolt on job.

Guess I could cut a section out of a scrapped F and weld that in?

Will have a better look after I have put the littlun to bed.

Bad luck mate.

It looks like the inner wing has gone too which makes it a bit more difficult, but not impossible.

 

As Clive says, its not an impossible repair, hopefully you'll know better after taking all the broken external bits off, wing, bumper etc and see how severe the inner wing damage is.
Sure a quality body shop could cut out and replace the worst of it

 

I have a decent charcoal bonnet spare at home (has a chip in the paint and a pin dent on top. But it's straight and would be ok as a stopgap bonnet if it's of use drop me a pm

that is bad news....gutted for you,,,who is at fault was it the car that hit you or you hitting the other car

Unfortunately I hit a stationary car, however I had nowhere else to go and with road conditions as they were would never have been able to stop. If the fast lane had been free all would have been ok but the chav in the fiesta ST didn't back off to let me in.

Really don't know why the guy had decided to stop where he did. If anyone knows dead mans hill near clip hill on the A6 then you will know that the worst place to stop would be on the south bound carriage at the top of the hill just over the brow.

Anyway, will be pointing that fact out to my insurance co. If you broke down there you would simply free wheel to the bottom for safety!

if i remember my highway code you should under no circumstances stop over a blind hill... double check and you might save your NCB not all that likely though

thats a write off mate you've got inner wing and slam panel damage, looks like an almost certain bent front subframe and thats the value of an F without the outer wing, bonnet, light, bumper, suspension and wheel damage

you could re-shell it though, or at least re-use all the nice bit's you've bought

 

Dam shame that is feel for you after doing so much work,you going to let the insurance company take a look.Iam new to all this but they dont seem to want to know.Could new parts be found for it if fixable as it seems they write off good cars without a single thought..gutted for you

 

Gutted for you :-( let us know what insurance say but I'm sure there must be someone on the forums could help get you sorted? Just need a friendly cash in hand bodyshop?

 

If there was no other car involved I probably wouldn't say anything to my insurance and would get it fixed. However there was and chances are they will claim for their rear bumper so I might as well get them to look at mine too. If its a write off I will ask about buy back.

Looks to be a lot of 'hidden' damage there to me. That means your insurer will want to write it off. :crying:

Where does it join on to and what type of welding would be required?

 

Sorry to hear about the car I guess you could buy that part and just cut the wing section you need and weld it in, fitting an entire front end would entail a major stripdown then extensive welding and measuring to ensure correct alignment.

 

Thats awful. I hate it when nice cars that are owned by people that love them get into such bad scrapes and most likely written off.

 

Was there bad damage to the other car?
Maybe offer to find them a bumper and fit it for them?

Not sure on the extent of the damage to the other car, probably just a rear bumper but will let him go through insurance.

go to the body shop and ask them to price with "green parts " thats bodyshop speak for second hand - find the bits for them on ebay - it will reduce the cost and could save the car
