This car has been sat at the back of our house for the past 3 years now.

Currently SORN, the little scrotes around here have smashed a couple of the windows. However, am seriously looking at having a chat with the owners of the car to see if they will let me take it off their hands.

Havent seen mileage or under the bonnet yet, but think it would make a good project car.

Let's face it, either you sort it and put it on the road, it's then saved and worth a few quid for the future, or you decide it's shot and break it and there's lods of saleable bits on there, and you get the money.

Seems like it's worth moving it on for them.

Well my worst case scenario was selling for parts, 18" alloys alone would be worth the investment.

Will keep you updated, but the plan is to try and get it running again. Will have to wander round in the next couple of days and sow the seeds of getting rid of...................

Dont think so, but as the bloke lives two doors down then should get the keys. However the battery is flatter than a witches ***, so that will be more of the issue, together with the seriously rusty discs all round.

The trapped dog doesn't surprise me. It does highlight the lack of professional design thinking at both Mercedes and Rover (improper design is probably an industry-wide problem).

However, I am disappointed that none of you had heard of anti-theft-window-detection on our cars as I'm sure I discovered the concept on a Rover 75 fan-base website. I really thought there was a sensor attached to the windows, hooked up to the body-computer, and that my car was near impossible to steal. :dunno:

Windows don't usually get broken by car thieves (proper thieves can get in with minimal damage, after all they are stealing to order) - they get broken by "people" who steal from cars.

I once caught a scratter junkie breaking my Land Rover window (which would have just slid open) to see what was inside the cubby box (a battery!). :(
