alarm working but no sound

Never heard mine yet except on the odd occasion I have tried to lock her with a door or boot open and the alarm gives a peep.

How do you know it is working if you haven't heard it? I guess the red light flashing when you lock the car and then settles to a pulse. Otherwise how can you tell?

alarm light flashing +indicator lights flashing

The indicator lights flash when you activate the alarm by pressing the lock button on the fob. That is normal; but the horn doesn't sound then.

Try sitting in the car and locking it with the fob while in there. allow a few minutes then move about if the alarm is working the lights will flash and the horn sound. This is the deadlock activation and is not recommended if leaving kids or pets in the car.

Never tried this myself but yer never know it may sort it out.

The alarm horn is a dedicated one in the plenum area next to the ecu

It could be a fuse, I've removed this fuse from 75 as the alarm kept annoying my in the middle of night and now only warning light flashing no annoying horn!

does any one know why the fuse box on mg zt 54 reg looks nothing like the fuse box in the haynes manual

I have this problem which number fuse did you remove, I think it might be No 26 as according to my handbook this controls the alarm/immobilisor.

I will look into that for you.

The first and cheapest option would be to check that you haven't gone deaf.
