Sounds like it! I was grovelling around under my driver's seat yesterday because I've got the intermitttent light and the MOT was today (thinking about it I don't think the airbags are an MOT item - although I stand to be corrected!)

Although I was able to wriggle the connectors around a bit the access is pants! I was hanging upside down from the back seat like a bat with the driver's seat as far forward as it would go. Others have talked about access from in front but they obviously don't have electrically adjustable seats!

However since when the light is on you have no pre-tensioners or airbags it is not something to be taken lightly. (Possible insurance implications too I imagine........)

Anyway the light's disappeared for now and the car passed - hurrah!

Yep I agree, with eletric/heated seats the access is awful - as you say Stew998, hanging upside down bat-like in the back is the only way.
The warning light was driving me mad - assumed it was the drivers side, so kept cleaning it. But then discovered it was the (rarely used) passenger side yellow connector. A spray with switch cleaner and it's OK for months.

shortly after buying my Conn se last Dec with the electric/heated seats the airbag light came on, at this point I had not found this useful forum, so took it around to my local ex rover dealer, one of the mechanics came out of the workshop wiggled his way under the seat and adjusted the wiring, and I have never had a problem since, and on top of that did not charge me !

thats the way to fix it, so if you are any where near Central garage in Torquay give them a call.

i've had this on both my ZT-t's, first one was fixed under warranty, the rover dealer cut out the connectors and hard wired the connection. This was the factory fix apparently.

Had it again on my current zt and found it's only a problem when the wires/connectors are allowed to hang freely under the seat. They get caught by bags, feet etc. The connectors are supposed to be clipped onto the metal subframes under the seat, one in front of the other, this applies to non electric seats. The connectors have oblong tabs on their base (set at an angle) which go into similarly sized holes on top of the subframe and you then twist them straight, which locks them into position. Make sure the wires are generally loose and as untangled as poss before fixing them in. Once i'd worked this out my light's been off (without fail) for perhaps 5-6k miles.

Because the connectors are fixed i can lift the seat up and down and forward/back constantly and no problem. Hope this works for you, good luck

The basic problem is the design of the connectors. The pins in one half are quite flimsy/floppy and they are made of a different metal from the sockets in the other half. So, apart from being mechanically sensitive, they tend to set up an electrolytic action which causes a non-conductive gunge to form between them. Result is a circuit failure that's so common, MGR thought the best servicing method was to cut the connectors out completely.

Having the same trouble with mine, only difference is, I removed the connectors, and used some butt crimp connectors to solve the problem. It worked for about a month and now its come back worse than ever. I think the best thing is to solder the wires together, but the access is dreadful at best. I dont fancy soldering under the seat really, but needs must.

Am having the same problem - light on - called at a Motortek centre on Wheatley Hall Road, Doncaster who have T4 eqiuipment - Couldn't get it to work but upon removing the Connector the Warning disappeared. Great stuff! They advised me it was possibly a loose connection but charged me nothing. If they had done something positive they would have charded £45.00 I thought here comes an argument but no....Left happy as there was no charge.. Will have to get involved in this area...I notice that there is a multi 'Male' connecter under the Drivers seat which seems to be doing -nothing. Any ideas what it's for? Is there any reasonably priced test equipment one can obtain for this application?

For two years I messed on with these connectors. I cleaned them, clipped them tight, coated the contacts with petroleum jelly, rerouted, extended and clipped-down wiring, and then did it all over again! And again! The fault was never cured for more than 3 months, and usually far less than that.
Finally after noticing that the fault light would come on under hard braking, i.e no passenger feet, dangling wires, seat movement, etc. to blame, I realised that the fault lay in the connectors themselves: the ‘contacts’ were not doing the job.
So five months ago, I cut out the connectors and soldered up all four sets of wires: end of problem.
Incidentally, it is a very quick and straight forward job to remove the four seat runner bolts and tilt the seats backwards to get good access to the wires and connectors. No need to hang upside down with a hot soldering iron.

Thanks for your input which I'll have a look at. I always use a drop or two of locktite on the threads of screws, especially where there is no real control of the torque. Stops moisture working it way up the bottom of the thread.
Still do not know what the multi pin 'male' connector(square type), located under the drivers seat, is for.
cheers and many thanks
