Factory fit options are factory fit only. There are aftermarket items such as the Reversing Aid which are retro-fittable. Options such as the Harmon Kardon Hi Fi which would be almost impossible to fit after the car had been made due to wiring harness dufferences [and prohibitively expensive to boot!]
Pop into your local dealer and ask for a copy of AKM 741, the latest MG Accessories brochure.

LOL!! I would if my local dealer had any!!
:D :D :D

I was thinking more along the lines of the rear sunblind, cruise control, and the Satnav system..

Cheers!

Items such as the rear sunblind [a godsend, IMHO!], sat nav and cruise [also nice....] are major items. They may not look it, but the wiring involved in, perhaps, the sat nav system, would entail replacement of a considerable portion of the vehicle wiring loom and more, possibly invalidating the vehicle warranty.
The rear sunblind would require a new parcel shelf assembly and the switch pack fitting to the lower dash area below the Climate Control Pack, together with the sunblind assembly. This would be very expensive!
Lesson to be learnt? Spec your car as you want it form the factory and no second thoughts!!

Nick - if you [or anybody] requires an MG accessory brochure - or indeed any brochure, then please conatct me by email and I will endeavour to get one to you8)

Dave,

No lesson to be learnt really... I bought the car second hand with 1000 miles on the clock (previously owned by the director of MG-Rover Weston) with the options I've got.. No big problem if I can't get them added now, just would have been nice thats all..:)

PS. Would satnav really be that hard to fit aftermarket? I thought it was just a replacement stereo unit?

I take it you haven't seen the gubbins in the boot??:)
I presume thats the CD player / GPS for the navigation?

Surely that would be just like installing a multichanger in the boot? (I did that in my last car myself... Very professional job if I do say so myself.. :D :D )

What else would it need?

Nick - for a start you would require the high line radio/TV display unit [if you went for the Highline unit, you'd need the tuner module etc, which is located in the spare wheel well area] If you went for the lowline navigation option, a new instrument pack would be required, together with the operating stalk - and possibly a new rear screen [which contains the antenna etc.]

I very much doubt that it would be (a)Possible and (b) Financially viable to retrofit items such as Satellite Navigation.

Configuring the car with T4 after fitting this system as a retrofit would not be without problems, I'm sure!:(

The factory fit sat nav systems are fully integrated into the dashboard/instrument pack. The aftermarket sat nav kits are nowhere as tidy or car-specific as the factory fit kit. They certainally do the job (The Alpine Kit I have experience of certainally works well!)
Average cost for a decent sat nav system? About £1500ish.
Also, it's worth bearing in mind that modification of the vehicle electrics would probably invalidate the 3yr warranty.

It was mentioned some time ago that a range of MG X Power clothing and promotional items may be in the pipeline. To date, I haven't seen anything - has anyone else?

Failing that, and assuming that there is sufficient interest - I may be able to obtain a quantity of MG Rover branded polo shirts (long and short sleeve), baseball caps and car stickers.

To gauge an indication of interest - can you e-mail [email protected] if you may be interested in any of these items. Also let me know what you'd want - badges, slogans etc. and I'll see what I can do.

Alternatively, if anyone has access to similar products - let me know and save me the hassle!!!
