ive got a r420 and there is a problem with the abs. When coming to a stop from low speeds the abs kicks in even when it dosent need to. Ive read it might be the reluctor ring, is this cheap and easy to replace? It dosent seem to be a sensor as there is no warning light coming on the dash with it happening.

You will probably find that the ring around the outer ends of the driveshafts have corroded and could even have split. I have the same problem but as yet have not got round to fixing it so I don't know the cost

Sounds like reluctor ring or sensor.

Try cleaning the sensors first.

Outer CV joints (only way to get the ring) are around £50 each from a motor factor or £100 each from a main dealer.

Pretty easy on full lock.

You can inspect the rings a at the same time.

You normally need to replace the whole CV joint as the toothed ring is not available separately. (it will have cracked right through)

However, I'm told the split can be welded and the ring refitted.

Still needs the cv joint removing though.
