A few things wrong with my MG ZR

Hello MG-ROVER forums.

I've got a MK2 MG ZR and there's a few things wrong with it that I was wondering how hard/expensive it'd be to fix them.

The central locking does not work however the central unlocking does. The only way to lock the car is to push the passenger side lock down and then lock the drivers side with the key. Pressing the lock button on the keyfob does nothing however pressing the unlock button will usually unlock both doors. The boot release button works fine. I think I need to replace the battery in the keyfob because I need to be really close to the car for it to unlock.

Sometimes when starting the car it will just beep at me.
I think this is an immobiliser issue but turning the ignition off and then trying again usually works.

The rear demister seems to turn itself off after a couple of minutes
A bit annoying but pressing the button the second time seems to work.

The rear fog light button doesn't work.

The passenger side door doesn't return to it's original position properly. Sometimes sticking up which means the door wont close unless you push the handle back down.

I lost the whole expansion tanks worth of coolant last week because the cap wasn't on properly.
I'd driven the car round for a while. Then I was stationary for a while with the engine running (testing out the sub). Then there was this strange rattling sound and steam coming out from under the bonnet. Turned the engine off to see the cap on the coolant expansion tank was lose and i'd lost the whole tanks worth.
Found it strange that coolant would be gushing out, the temperature gauge on the dash was normal. But I didn't hear the radiator fan come on so maybe that's jammed. Is there any way to test it?

The engine management light sometimes comes on. Well it's on the majority of the time but not always. I'm trying to get my mate to borrow a fault code reader from his work. Is there any reason the light goes off sometimes?

Big one
The car can be very jerky once the engine has warmed up and keeping it at a steady speed. If I'm at about 3000 revs or above the car doesn't seem to do it. However anything under the car will randomly start jerking.

Update on the above:
When the car is warmed it jerks between 2000 and 2300 if the car isn't accelerating
If the car is cold then it does it between 2600-3000

That is a fair range of stuff

First thing I would look at regarding the electrical issues is the boot loom. Very easy and cheap to fix, a common problem that can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins.

I don't really do engines, I am a real novice on that stuff, but I can tell you why the water boiled and gushed and yet the temp guage stayed steady. The Header tank cap pressurises the coolant system. When pressurised water/coolant boils at a much higher temperature than it does at standard atmospheric pressure. So as far as your temp gauge was concerned your engine temp was fine, but because it was at atmospheric pressure it was merrily boiling away and releasing all your coolant as steam.

Quick update:

New cap for the expansion tank came and fits nice and tight now.

I tested the car warmed up, stationary and not in gear. The engine seems to get jerky between 2200RPM and 2800RPM. Anything outside of that range is fine.
I'll post a video of it later.

The bleeping when you go to start the car is normal. It just means you haven't started the car quick enough after unlocking and the immobiliser has re-activated. Just press the unlock button to de-activate it.

The rear fog, de-mister and central locking issues could be down to split tailgate loom by the hinges.

I assume it's the one that comes out of the exhaust manifold haha.
Is there a clip on the connector? I gave it a small tug but it didn't budge and I didn't want to break anything.

I start the car within a minute of getting into it. Also turning the ignition to off (without pressing the unlock button) seems to work fine.

The rear de-mister is meant to turn off after 15 minutes but mine turns off after around 2(?) which is odd. Once I turn it back on it works fine. Strange...

I had a look at the top half of the boot loom and it seemed fine. The gromet was a pain to get back in.
The bottom one didn't seem to want to come out though. I'll try when it's not 0 degreess outside.

Anyone got any idea on the door handle? It's a bit of a pain because if it's not all the way down the door wont lock or unlock.
I imagine it's some sort of spring broken.
