The abs light on my car is staying on after I start the engine. If I switch off the ignition and restart the engine the fault clears and all is well.
It doesn`t stay on at every start up, but when it does switching off and restarting is the only cure.

I read a previous post where the light came on after the car had moved which pointed to a dodgy wheel sensor but that is not the problem that I have as the light stays on before the car is moved.

Any suggestions on things to try gratefully received.

Doesn't sound like a wheel speed sensor anyway, as you say, these usually illuminate the ABS light after travelling 20-30M.

Could be anything - an ABS relay or solenoid valve - only a proper diagnostic will reveal all.
