I bought my 75 Tourer (116bhp) just over a year ago with 72K on the clock.
Its been a fantastic car but always a little sluggish. I bought a tuning
box (not one of Ron's, I hadn't heard of his products then) and this
did improve things slightly but it still lacked torque.
A new fuel filter improved top end but still didn't improve the lower end.
I read Ron's 75 page and did the following :-
1/ Adjusted throttle stop downwards 2 complete turns
2/ Disconnected EGR valve
The car is now much livelier and there is a lot more low down torque. Its not quite up to Mondeo TDCi standards but its not far off and its much nicer to drive.
Thinking about the EGR valve, as I understand things, modern turbo diesels are fitted with large intercoolers to draw cool air into the combustion chambers for greater power/efficiency. Yet the EGR must be injecting hot gasses into the engine which may be impacting on this.
Anyway, a big thanks Ron for your Web page.
