Hi, for the last few weeks the temperature gauge seems to be playing silly buggers. After about 5-10 minutes from cold start it’ll go up to roughly a quarter then will sometimes stay there for a while and then start dropping back down to the bottom cold indicator, then it’ll eventually start going back up to around about halfway. Is this simply a faulty thermostat?

I would say that faulty thermostat is very likely, especially if temperature goes down when driving at motorway speed and rising to the middle position at slower speeds.
I had a similar issue with one of my ti's and the thermostat was the cause.

Any difference when going down, or up hill ?

When my Ti's thermostat went the temp gauge needle was slow to register any temp, didn't get up to "normal" on the level and plummeted to "cold" going downhill.

The thermostat was changed a couple of years ago which makes me think it’s something else . I’ve ordered a temp coolant sensor so will try that first then if no joy will replace the thermostat. Both cheap fixes hopefully.
