Just fitted a 52mm TB to my mk3 214 1.4 103ps and WOAH!
I *CAN* definately notice the difference.
Much better throttle response, better acceleration.. and best of all.. no sticking!

I know theres debate about the effectivness of these TB's on the 103ps 1.3 but I can definately notice the diff :dddc:

Only fitted it this morning, I guess the MPG depends on your driving and how often you floor it

The bigger throttle body gives better response but wont actually give you any measurable power difference as has been shown in the past.

dunno my mate had one on his escort, ( a larger one I mean ) & his felt pretty dam firm on the acceleration front compared to what it was , altho he paid for it in the MPG , (His is a 1.6si )

You must've had the 83ps one surely???

General concensus is that there is not much, if any difference by swapping the 48 to the 52 on a standard 103ps engine.

Alt's car is a 200, so the chance of it being a 103ps version is 99,9%. And as he didn't have to change his throttle cable it's a chance of 100% it's a 103ps version :).

The car isn't actually any quicker nor does it accelerate any faster. It's simply down to the fact that a wider aperture allows more air in for less push on the pedal. The exact same thing can be acheived with a 48mm throttle body by simply pushing the pedal down a little further to open the aperture a bit more.

It just seems quicker cuz you aren't pushing down as much on the pedal.
