I've just bought an Rover 2000W reg 45 TD iXL and it only came with one key and fob. As my wife constantly 'misplaces' keys, I'm looking to get another key and fob.

What's the cheapest way of doing this - can a key blank be cut in a shoe repair shop? Can a second user fob be reprogrammed to fit my car? Or is it a case of finding an ex-Rover Stealer and paying whatever they charge? Ideas of how much it might cost me appreciated. Is it worth looking on eBay for parts?

Is it the square type 17TN fob or the later rounder type ?

edit : now I have woken up its the early type. Look around the net is your best bet, fobs from £40 dont pay dealer prices
