45 cutting out

Hi guys,

Ive just purchased a rover 45 on a 52 plate, 72000 on the clock. I am having problems when driving when engine is cold. Car starts fine but when I pull away encgine cuts out on me, battery light comes on ect. car is fine when driven for about 10 mins. Any help would be appriciated.

Could be coolant temperature sensor faulty.
When it fails the ECU uses a sort of 'mid range' figure to keep running but could result in under fueling when the engine is cold and over fueling when the engine is hot.

What engine is it ?.

its a 1.6i, revs are irractic as well

ive also had it suggested that it may ne a faulty or sticking automatic choke. hay can i check this?
Well that suggestion is just plain wrong!, the ECU varies the amount fuel based on readings it gets from the sensors.

Did you you check the ICV?

Mine did this but cleaning and following the published "reset" procedures didn't help, but reseting it via testbook cured the poor starting and cold idle.
