Hi all,

Weather is getting warm now, but my 416 is still rattling on startup. It isn't rattle after warming up properly.

I suspect it is the distributor related problem. Any other thing I need to check?
And where can I get a new distributor cap (my 416 SLi K engine should probably got this?!), or perhaps a new rotor arm as well? And are they difficult to change? (I'm just a rookie)

many thanks
Colin

The oil just changed a month ago, after the HGF. As this HGF happen while I was away. And so I don't know much about the detail of the repair work. But I suppose the oil used is the standard one recommended by the rover manual.

And I just spot the distributor cap and rotor arm section in the Haynes manual, seems it is not very difficult to service.

Just a bit curious, is wrong type of oil make the engine rattle?

Ok, the problem isn't cured yet, but found that the distributor cap and rotor arm is a slightly rusty, will remove those later on.
