420 wiring loom (Wiring is going to be the pain)

why do i need the drive shafts and hubs? ive been told i dont need to change them

 

because the the 414 shafts are smaller in diameter.
420's are thicker

your engine is an k-series your fittng T-series engine

 

so any rover 2.0 engine i buy i wud have to change the drive shafts and the hubs?

 

would i be able to have drive shatfs made to fit instead of changing the hubs?

 

shafts and hubs are easy to source from breakers

getting this made to fit is a no no

changing hubs is not a major job

if you were fitting a 1.8, that would be a much simpler job as that is a k-series

no changing of ,shafts subs, etc

 

which cars have the 1.8 in?

 

Plus you need to uprate your springs as the 2.0 t-series is very heavy compare to the light weight 1.4

it not as simple as it's made out to be but is not a problem if you have all the parts

 

ok there 2 1.8's a vvc and non-vvc.

the non-vvc is the easier of the two

97> rover coupe's and rover 200 Vi are VVC

Rover 25 have the 1.8 gti spec one

hubs are just a straight swap

you'll need all the ancilleires from (alternator , starter , radiator)

basically you just about need everything from a under a 420's bonnet

mounts are different that why you need the cradle (rear subframe and front one)

It possible alwrite, its been done may times on here with the turbo engine which is the same as your 2.0 other than it's NASP.

It much easier if you has the whole car as a donor

only messing about is with wires

search "turbo conversion" on the forum there tons of info for it.

 

200 conversions are common. 400's not so, but the principles are the same.

 

Unless you are doing a turbo conversion wouldn't it be easier to buy a normal Rover 420, you would also get the choice of saloon or hatch then
