GTI and GSI are exact same engine with 200bhp, only 2.0turbo with less power was in the early 800vitesse models and had 180bhp.

And that was the previous-gen M-Series Turbo, the forerunner to the T-16 Turbo with 200BHP.

The T-16 Turbo is fitted to the 220 GSi/GTi/Coupe Turbo, 420 GSi Turbo, the 620Ti and 820 Vitesse.

I believe the early T16 Vitesse Turbos were also 180, not 200. Comparing the cam lobes on early T16s, certainly those on my Vitesse, those on later cars I've seen have a sharper profile and the cam pulleys were slightly different too.

Driving both engines I find it hard to tell any difference..... both go well.

Yes as well as all M-series turbo's being 180ps, they did make Rover 800 Vitesse models with the T-series unit, that produced 180ps in this application. As well as the different cams to the 200ps engine, the max modulated boost pressure was 8.8psi on the 180ps engine, compared with 11.5psi for the 200ps versions.
