Hi everyone, I'm new here and guess this question must have already been asked, but have been unable to find it in search...

My 1999 216Si auto has been fine until driving home this evening when it stalled as I stopped in traffic, leaving it in gear and holding briefly on the brake. Now I need to put a few extra revs down to stop it stalling when pulling away or stationary...

Any ideas as to what's wrong?

Well you should ALLWAYS knock it in neutral when stationary or you put stress on the clutchpacks. First thing I'd do it check and change the gearbox fluid.

I usually do, but you have to put it in gear ready to move off - and that's now very hard to do! Gearbox oil was changed at last service 2,500 miles ago..
