heater doesnt work on 1 or 2, not had the car long but didnt notice it before

is access easy? and what could be wrong? 3-4 works ok.

Resistor pack faulty, easy enough to change. Its located behind the glovebox in the ducting. Iirc cost £25 ish from the dealer

The speed of the blower motor is controlled by a resistor pack that sits near the blower motor behind the glove compartment.

The resistor pack is simply 3 coils of nichrome wire soldered onto some tags on a fixing plate, over time the coils can fail open circuit. You can either buy a replacement resistor pack or if you're handy with a soldering iron you can remove the nichrome coils and replace with power resistors - if you can get the resistors from your local Maplins it shouldn't cost you more than £1!

yep, got that and had a good read, looks really easy, and i found somebody on ebay who does them by return of post.
