Hi!

Changed the air filter on my vi yesterday, and I noticed a plastic tube in the top half of the airbox, which extends about 6 or 7 inches in.

I didn't have this on my old 200 sdi, which has a similar design (but bigger) airbox.

Anyway, it was loose and rattled a bit, and was probably slighty restrictive, so I took it out. Doesn't make a noticeable difference when driving now, so I wondered if anyone knew it's function?

if you mean the pipe which is at the bottom of the airbox ..then thats a cold air feed....

No, it's in the top half of the 'box, it extends in from the flexipipe that goes to the throttle body. Doesn't seem to affect performance or make more noise when it's removed, so I was wondering what it's function was?

yeah i kw what u mean now..lol,,,,never noticed it on my vi before..think its some sort of noise reducer.....

yeah, it is just that, a noise reducer, also allows the air to travel slightly smoother in a rather poor designed airbox.

The airwaves are rather messy on these boxes.
