2005 Streetwise

Saw a new 2005 Streetwise at Central Garages in Torquay yesterday; smartly finished, with new 'Burnished' paintwork, which I liked (although I still feel SWs work best in dark colours where the grey plastic is toned down), and new matching fascia insert and door pulls (which looks fine on a SW with a 'Burnished' body colour, although I suspect, a little odd on SWs finished in other colours (curiously, Chagal Blue is the only other trim option)).

However, my real concern was the disgusting 'Target' seat fabrics that resemble something off an old-shape special-edition Nissan Micra. Can't imagine anyone liking them; just looks like a failed attempt at being cool and youthful. And equally, can't believe they're still offering the steel wheels ala Metro 1.1c as a standard fit on some models! And how long until a fully colour-coded version of the SW hits the market? Reckon it would look quite cool... and less scary...

Surely a fully colour codes Streetwise would just look like a regular 25 on stilts.

I can't see MGR offering it anytime soon.
My thoughts exactly. The SW is meant to be an Urban on Roader, therefore it must be able to survive in the urban environment of scarred bumpers and back end bumps.

Colour coding would just contradict the SW's ethos...

Have you got any pics?

I was under the impression that Rover used the same type of plastic that was used on the original Ford KA's. The plastic doesn't like paint being applied to it and cracks and peals very quickly. When Ford decided to colour code the KA bumpers, they had to change the plastic they used.

sadly i dont, the pinish was compleet and solid just that the texture of the bumpers showed trough and wrecked the overall look

.... that will be just like the side rubbing strips on my ZR then. Flippin' cheapskates, get close - and you don't even need to get too close, and you can still see the Rover 200/25 leather look grain. Looks good in Trophy Blue.

If you go to Rover's site there are pics of the new Streetwise 'Target' seat trim. Truly horrendous. You can still get the Sebring half leathers which are way superior and quite subdued

My local dealer (http://www.howardabraham.co.uk) has several colour coded Streetwises at the moment and they actually look rather goood :)

Have you got any pics of them - couldn't see any on site.
Nope, I don't and sadly I'm away from home 'til Friday. But I'll endeavour to get some at the weekend.
