I have got hold of a engine/gearbox and wiring loom from a 2004 S2 lotus elise 111s! I am planning in using it for a kit car project but I got no ECU with it!

How similar are the lotus wiring looms to rover wiring looms? would it be possible to use a mem2 or 3 ecu instead of a lotus ecu?

is it possible to change the current lotus wiring loom to a rover mems2 or 3 wiring loom?

im not sure how similar the engine sensors and wiring looms are!?

also if i was able to get hold of a lotus ecu for it do they have any alignment issue with immobiliser or alarm systems on the lotus's?

I would expect this to be an EU3 (MEMS3) version of the K series.

The engine electrics/sensor wiring should be identical to the MG-R version, they may have specified a different ECU connector but I would expect that they have retained the MG-R ecu and simply alter the software/maps to their own spec.

Can you take some photos of the engine and loom?
i pick the engine up friday so i will get some pictures then!

it doesnt seem to difficult to get lotus S2 K4 ecu's so i will probably just get one of them to save me messing around with the wiring looms.

does anyone know if the lotus ecu's have any immobiliser system build into them?
If its a 2004 engine, its Mems 3. So any rover 160vvc ECU should work...

and yes, they do have the immobiliser from what i remember....

im finding it easier to get hold of lotus ecu than rover mems3 + 5as etc! so i can get lotus ecu and aftermarket alarm/immobiliser like is fitted standard to lotus's (cobra alarms i think)

yes the lotus do have a immobiliser fitted but i think after more research I have done the lotus ecu will still function correctly without the original immobiliser fitted (eg removed completely) unlike the rover ecu, it is not linked to it in any way (eg doesnt need a signal from immobiliser to activate ecu)

im not 100% sure but from what i can gather this is the case, I would really appreciate if someone knows 100% the know how of the how the lotus ecu and lotus alarm/immobilisers that are fitted standard!
From a 2004 S2?

I may well be wrong but isn't that after Lotus stopped using the K Series and started using the Toyota VVTi?

yes they did start using the toyota engine around then in the 111r but they still produce many more of their cars with the rover engine!

i now have the engine and looks in great nick as only done 11000miles just need to get the car built and test it :)
Sorry Ref-

There's really no chance anyone with an answer will reply, and I think there's no point in trying to message the OP directly. Shame, as not so long ago virtually any question posed here would get a properly helpful answer.
Cheers.
