Hi Guys

I adjusted my throttle a few weeks ago as it had a lot of slack in it and was a nightmare to drive, since adjusting it I am experiencing cutting out when slowing down and at low revs, having gone through the posts it looks like my IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE may be the issue?.

I have tried to reset it many times but no joy .. but with the throttle adjusted it drives a lot better until I slow down.

Where is best to buy one of these from? if anyone has a link be greatly appreciated, as I'm not sure what I'm buying

Many thanks Paul

Do you mean the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor), or the IACV?

You will need a pscan, or access to dealer level diagnostics to deal with IACV problems - even if you replace it the new one will need to be set up with such equipment. However, a faulty IACV is rare, although a couple of members with a pscan have found that theirs were not calibrated correctly.

By how much did you tighten the cable? Whilst they are often found to be excessively slack, they must have a small amount of free play nonetheless. If you have tightened it with no free-play at all, it is possible that is the reason for your problem - if the cable isn't allowing the throttle lever to return fully when you take your foot off, it may confuse the engine ecu as the TPS won't be telling it that the throttle is fully shut down.

If there is still a little free-play in the cable, I would think it is more likely an issue with the TPS needing to be reset; I can't recall the exact procedure without looking it up, but involves depressing the throttle pedal slowly and fully five times with the ignition switched on, but without the engine running.

Hi

Thanks for the reply, it had alot of slack in,.it made holding the throttle a nightmare on hills and pulling off.

I Will adjust it back to where it was and do a reset again and see if that resolves the issue, if not il speak to a garage.

Many thanks 😊

All sorted , did a TPS reset after adjusting the cable again, I purchased a torque module and it show I had a cam shaft sensor issue, just replaced that today and all is running sweet
